Thanks! I needed this!!
ReplyDeleteIf only I could organize my husband! It's all pointless when you live with a stubborn packrat.
ReplyDeleteI totally love this!!! I do (or try to)everything she mentioned.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I have to add is make the bed too!
It always makes the room seem soo much cleaner!
It's shiny sink of the bedroom.
DeleteLove me a bit of organisation. Some great ideas and concepts here. I have family who like to 'help' with tidying but this just generally means 'make more of a mess and then annoy mummy when she has to rectify the problems which then makes her feel guilty for interfering with their good intentions'.
ReplyDeleteWow Aimee!!! This really helps. (I'm so much like you in this way - maybe I too have Adult ADD) My next obstacle to overcome is the energy to do it. Where do you find that?
ReplyDeleteYour 7 organization tips make me feel motivated. I hope to start on my scrapbook area sometime this week.
ReplyDeleteI totally can relate. I have a pack-rat also. He is a piler. My if it is in a pile to him it is not cluttered. It sucks the energy right out of me. My stuff is organized. I even had to have my own toolbox because I don't even want to try to find anything in his garage.
ReplyDeleteWell, I do like them all, but, ain't there 8 rules?
ReplyDeleteI'm not that organized, but I'll try to keep them all in mind.
Nothing cleans a mirror better than diluted vinegar - 1 part white cheapo vinegar to 10 parts water.
ReplyDeleteI live with the total slob/packrat. Without me, he would be on Hoarders. I have been trying to organize for years without luck, but am making progress...slowly.
ReplyDeleteAmazing post, Aimee! I love how simply you laid it out - makes it easy for the rest of us to apply. And your pictures are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI sooooo needed this today - thanks ever so much for sharing! I'm your newest "follower" - will be checking in often - love your ideas!
ReplyDeleteGood advice that I'm following little by little. I have found that containerizing things in kits helps me. I'm getting ready as soon as the weather cooperates to do this to my entire garage. I love containers that are see-through. But I also Label everything on all sides!
ReplyDeleteLove this. I also struggle with adult ADHD, and I have to have everything in perfect order, labeled, and put in it's place. It makes me physically crazy if things aren't in order! I have a hard time ever sitting still, because I know there is something in my house that isn't perfect! Ohhhh, at least I'm organized!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for these tips!!! I just got on medication for ADD even though I have had it all of my life. And the organization process has been slow. I have 3 girls and i feel like I am constantly picking up after them. How do you keep on top of your kid's stuff? And how do you keep your pantry from imploding?
ReplyDeleteThis is great. Very helpful
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to wipe the mirror with a coffee filter...it works great!!
ReplyDeleteI so want to hug you for this sight.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the first 7! I, too, have ADD & have had it for many years. I still struggle to stop "starting things" and not finishing. I am also a perfectionist, so if I can't complete something perfectly, I just don't do it or attempt. Procrastination is my enemy and has a tight hold on me. Your blog has motivated me to "start" again, so I am going to try your 7, at least. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLori, please let me know how your meds go; I took Adderall for years and became immune to it, so now I don't take anything. Thanks,
ReplyDeleteI became tollersnt to adderall myself but instead of stopping it my doctor just added an immediate release tablet twice a day to my extended release that I take every morning and this has been life changing for me!! Hope this helps!!:))
DeletePeople tell me I am organized but the truth is that I have to try to be in order to deal with my adult ADD (lol, no seriously). My world quickly becomes messy and chaotic and unfocused. I struggle every day to achieve a sense of organization and I have 3 little boys that like to undo that sense of achievement daily.
ReplyDeleteI can so relate to this comment! I, too, have adult ADHD. It takes a huge amount of effort for me to accomplish the same things that my non-ADHD friends accomplish. If I don't stay on top of my life, it quickly gets out of control. Every now and then I get sick of using a planner and my family gets very scared! Without my planner my life falls apart.
My kids are grown now and I have an empty nest. But in the last 5 years I've gone through a lot of changes, and fairly quickly, and I haven't been able to catch my breath and get back into a rhythm. I don't know about you, but it takes me a while to regroup after life changes. I'm still struggling a bit but starting to feel better. ADHD definitely makes everything more complicated. Not very many people understand when I try to explain my challenges. Actually I'm not sure that anybody in my life does. They try but unless you've experienced it, it's just too hard to wrap your head around.
So your comments in your opening paragraph were music to my ears.
great help!
ReplyDeleteVery useful, thnx for the motivation :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so me! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove all of these! I am the type of person that hates clutter but not enough to get it out of my house. I need to change the way I do things.
ReplyDeleteI don't have ADD, but I can relate to everything you just stated. I have many projects which aren't finished. I start something, have to tend to something else and never go back to what it was I started.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this! I actually try to do all 7 too, but I have things on the counter in the kitchen because, well, it's small (knives, blender, etc). My question for you is....where did you get your label maker? or do you use printable ones?
ReplyDeleteNo, they cannot understand...this adds even more frustration to our lives :(
ReplyDeleteAs if suffering w/ & trying to manage ADHD daily is not difficult enough .....
**** I too love these organizational tips !!!
