Day 39: For Husbands

Head: What does being a help meet mean to a husband?  What does God teach concerning the role of a husband?

The first and most important thing to know is that when studying on marriage, it is not the wife's place to study on what a husband should do and it's not the husband's place to study on the wife's "place".  It is the responsibility of each to study on one's own responsibilities only and stay focused on God's guidance.

The good wife's guide.

Because your wife, your help meet, was created perfectly for you; wouldn't you want to treat her as you would treat yourself?  For everything that you want for yourself in your marriage, you should also want for your wife; love, kindness, respect, etc.  It is God's plan that husband and wife are ONE in marriage and that being the case, it does not mean equal.  It means that your weaknesses are to be made stronger by your wife's strengths and your wife's weaknesses are made stronger by your strengths.  It's a little like putting together a puzzle with each others pieces to create one beautiful "picture" of life together.

Heart: Your wife's divine calling is to be your help meet, to help you be the man, husband, father, etc. that you need to be.  In order to do that your wife needs you to honor her with respect and love.  It's the little things that husbands do to show their love for their wives that keep the wives going.  God's guidance and prayer will show her how she can please her husband but it's important that husbands recognize the burden that wives carry as help meets.

I am not going to rattle off all the responsibilities of a husband as are Biblically true, but I am going to encourage them to study on God's Word to learn more about how to love and cherish as God intends.
