"Some Body" REALLY made me think!

This morning I was reading through my "Good Reads" list down below and was reading CJane's.   Now this lady is known in the blogging world as the sister of NieNie but she has her own identity and spark.  She has a way with words that I can appreciate and is a sister I'd love to have.  Her last post "Some Body - Second Edit" was really a good one!  I don't always have something to say or have feelings stirred up by her posts but this morning I almost melted.  So as a new member of her "BlogFrog" community I was able to post this in response.
Well Courtney I have to say I was almost brought to tears this morning.  Not feeling sorry for you, feeling sorry for me!  I know we aren't the only women who struggle but I constantly let it get the better of me. Oh what it would be to have another baby and use the excuse still, "I just had a baby."  Actually, post baby last time, I started running and looked great until my appendix needed to be removed so I just gave up.  I'd never run before in my life and then all the sudden I'm the only person in my entire family that doesn't have an appendix...I just knew there was a connection.
Just as devastating to me was the fact that while I was 2 weeks away from having baby number 3, we had our "family" picture made, my Grandmother, all her children, grandchild, daughter-in-laws, you get the picture; and while I was just another face in a large crowd, I think my face was the largest, my nose was swollen, my boobs hung low my belly pushed people out of the way, my feet would not fit in any shoes I owned except for flip flops that made cut marks in my feet.  Oh honey!  So after giving up on having more children due to pregnancy health issues that were slowly killing me (I'd love more), I started getting back the body I almost think I'm doomed to have.
And so, if I had to pick one thing I love about my body it'd probably be my Uterus.  Yes, I'm the crazy one that said it, but my hips and stomach are marked like I was in a brawl with Freddy Cougar, my boobs are stretched down and out from nursing and on good days (or good bra days) might feel normal.  My feet have widened, my nose didn't go back to pre-pregnancy size, my stomach never deflated to normal'; I could go on and on and on.  It's humbling!  It really is!  But at least my Uterus gave me something I've wanted my whole life!
So, if God loves me the way I am, then that makes me smile.  But I pray that if my works could be done better with a healthier body, free of diabetes and high blood pressure, then He can help me become healthy.  But right now I think he wants to keep me humble so that my works and goodness are expressed from the deepest depths of me.
So let me ask you this, "What part of your body do you love?"  Reach down deep and think about it.  I suppose I could have said my eyes...I do love my eyes but eyes are so expressive and can give away emotions to easy so they aren't very trustworthy sometimes.

This wasn't my planned post but sometimes that happens.  I plan on showing you what I did to my downstairs restroom door next and few other ideas I've come up with but I felt this needed to be shared.

I'm too CHEAP for Uppercase Living - Tutorial

Apparently after a very long time, this post has drawn some attention.  While I am being accused "stealing" now and my faith has been questioned, I would like to say that this post was done so out of sheer love for something beautiful and the lack of funds to buy anything new at the time.  It was not intended to be deceitful and if has been taken that way I apologize.  What is it they say? "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."  That's all this post was and is.  It was not meant to "steal" a product, it was simply a super cheap way for anyone to "get the look".  This is a very easy technique that can be used on anything in your home.  If you want "the look" of vinyl lettering that will stay around forever, this technique is for you.  A consultant sent me a sample a while back for me to try and I loved it, raved about it.  It is temporary...easy to put up and very easy to remove.  So, if you aren't "too cheap" like me then visit the below link or one of the many links in the comments section.  Either way, I hope you have fun and enjoy the process.

Oh how I love me some Uppercase Living.  I remember when I first discovered that beautiful company a couple of years ago.  I scheduled a party and my consultant canceled and I never rescheduled due to lack of funds thereafter.

 I love this one!
Oh well, a girl can dream.  Maybe one day...

So now all these people are buying these Cricut machines and oh how beautiful they are too.  Only, I can't buy one of those either.  So, whats a crafty, SAHM going to do!
Wing it!
My husband is leery of putting writing on walls, I think it's just because he doesn't want to read it or be reminded to wash his hands or something.  I don't know!  It might be because I tried buying these vinyl letters from Lowes and they were too tall for the space I wanted to use them (above my arch way).  Oh well!  So, tonight when I said, I want to paint "Pantry" on our pantry door, he actually said, "that sounds like a good idea!"  What???  Really???? I can paint something on a door in our house?  Really???
So, I did this!
Awe!  I'm so happy!  It's 2:00 in the morning and I'm blogging about something that took about 30 minutes to do!  I'm SO happy!
Here's what you do!
Print off the lettering that you want from your computer...  Isn't it pretty!
Then, I turned it over and did this...
I rubbed my pencil all over the back of my letters until they were all covered.
I taped it in place on the door and using a ball point pin, pressed slightly hard and traced around each and every line and curve.  It was easy I promise!
What you'll end up with is this transfer.  My art teacher taught me this trick in high school, her father was a painter, and painted signs for a living.  I guess this is a technique passed down.  It works and it's easy!
This is the rest, I simply painted with a thin brush.  I used a black acrylic paint, one of my favorite paints to work with.  I'd decided not to do the line underneath for fear I wouldn't make it straight but I like it better with out it.  This takes little patience and a slight steady hand but anyone can do it.  It all only took about 30 minutes so I KNOW you can do this!
If you try this, please send me a picture.  I'm looking for clever ideas around our house.  I think something in our laundry room will be next.

Since my pantry will always be my pantry and because of the wood grain texture, this technique is ideal.

P.S.  Husband now wants a "label" on our restroom downstairs.
P.P.S.  What should it be???  Help me out ya'll!  (Powder Room, Restroom, The Loo, etc)  I have no idea, I wanted something clever like (Necessities)  That's what they called it back the early 1900's.  Hmmm!
P.P.P.S.  Also, help me out with something clever for the Laundry Room!  Thanks ya'll!

If I can Pickle, You can Pickle...Sweet & Spicey Recipe!

Dad brought these enormous cucumbers in.
I couldn't figure out what in the world to do with them,  I don't like plain cucumbers.
Now pickles I like so I tried to find a pickling recipe but what I found instead was a marinade that sounded good.  But then I thought, why couldn't the marinade become a pickling brine.
O my gosh it was awesome.  I totally changed the whole recipe because I didn't have all the right ingredients, but it turned out fabulous and it was SO easy.  I promise!  IT really was!
I grabbed a few wide mouth jars I'd been saving for, I'm sure some craft project or storage and made this recipe up as I went and it was absolutely perfect.

recipe
4 Large Cucumbers
2 small sweet onions
1 cup of rice vinegar
8 tbs sugar
1 cup water
1 tsp of dill
2 tsp of red pepper flakes
 2 tbs salt
3 garlic cloves ( quartered)

--------
slice cucumbers in half lengthwise and then in thin strips
cut onion in half and then in thin strips, toss together with garlic and stuff into jars
on your stove top combine liquid ingredients, sugar, dill, pepper and salt.
Bring to a boil while stirring.
Funnel into jars over the cucumbers while liquid is very hot.
Fill to top and screw on lid.
------
refrigerate 4 hours to 5 days before opening.
I couldn't wait.
James and I emptied a whole jar while watching one movie.  They were fabulous!
It's so sweet first and then the heat...it's really not too much.
Even the onions were divine!
-----
alternatives
you can substitute the rice vinegar for white vinegar
you can also decrease or increase your pepper flakes
garlic can be omitted
and instead of dill you can use celery seed.
Enjoy!

Organize Dinner Time

I'm cleaning out my pantry I realized I had quite a bit of food I don't use often and should be using, it would save us money not to have food go bad, right:?  So, I thought, I'll make a list of meals I can make this week with what we have and a list of ingredients I may still need.  So, this little printable was born.

This is what you can do, next to each day of the week, right what is one the menu for dinner each night of the week.  Right a list of ingredients that you need and sides below.
If you are missing an ingredient, write it in the grocery list below.  You could do this several weeks in advance and take your grocery list/s with you.
Oh and go HERE for more ideas on organizing dinner!
HEY!
If you happen to print this, leave me a comment and let me know!  It makes posting these worth the work!  I love hearing from you!
Thanks!
Oh and also let me know if if you share this on your blog or website...it just thrills me to death.  Thanks AGAIN!
