On The Road Again...

My blog has taken a back seat ever since I went back to work full time.  It's summer break and now I have time for my family and myself.  If you are a past follower, you know I have tried 2 other times to do the Couch 2 5k plan.  I'm starting my 3rd attempt.  I feel like I don't have a choice at this point.  I had seriously looked into having gastric bypass, I qualify believe it or not but it isn't some thing insurance will cover.  So, my only choice is to give it my all one more time and to not fail ever again.  So, 3 weeks ago I started the program again.  I am starting week4 now.  I want so badly to give you a deep soppy sad story and excuses but I'm not going too.  Instead, I'd love for you to join me.  Find me on www.myfitnesspal.com and look for "homespunthreads".  That's me!  Link up with me and let's motivate each other.  I love this website and app for my phone because I can enter my daily food log and exercise for the day.  Join me please, won't you?

Here's a sample of what I get to look at during my workouts.

  1. I am thinking about couch to 5k as well. Now that kids are not needing me in the morning to get ready for school I may do that in the mornings. I will check out your link.

  2. I just finished the Couch to 5K program.  I have always told the people who love me that if they were to see me running, call 911 cause there must be something bad behind me.   I did this program and was successful in completing it.  I am still running three days a week.  I still don't really like to run, but I love that I have made an accomplishment that I didn't think I could do.  Good luck and stick with it!  The hardest step a runner takes is the first step out the door!

  3. You go for it, you can do it!! Remember that even when you have small setbacks you have still made progress from where you started. I remember the first time I ran a mile and it seemed such a victory, but keep at it and you WILL surpass that and go  much farther. Sometimes when I'm training for long distance races I am so tired I can't run anymore and just have to take a short walk break, and that's ok too! I love a quote I saw on Pinterest - no matter how slow you go, you are lapping everyone on the couch. :)

  4. I don't know where you live, but you should check out a 5k called "The Color Run" and see if it's going to be in your area in the coming months. I just "ran" it with a team of friends over the weekend, and after months of working on the C25K program, it felt so good to cross that finish line! Having signed up for a 5k is what helped keep me motivated on the weeks that I didn't want to push to the next week of training. Our team of moms still ran/walked, but we did it! If you haven't heard of it before, it's a NOT TIMED 5k where you wear all white, and every kilometer you reach you have powdered dye (corn starch based, so completely safe) thrown at you. By the end you're a bunch of different colors... then they have a color festival for all the participants and you all get to throw dye in the air (and at each other). You can see their schedule here: www.thecolorrun.com I really recommend it! Their whole motto is "be healthy, be happy".
