Day 26: Love has Knowledge

And for this very reason make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 2 Peter 1:2-7

Head: Our Marriage Mountain is made up of so many things, two of which are faith and virtue.  Today, I want to discuss the importance of knowledge.  When I think of someone who has knowledge on a subject, I think of someone that has studied that subject.  I imagine a person sitting, surrounded by books and has the desire to know more.  What is the reason that person wants to know more?  I know the subject I am studying  now is marriage.  I find myself opening books written by other people and reading about what they think makes a marriage but the one book I continue to go back to is my Bible.  What better book is there?

The word "knowledge" when concerning your marriage encompasses many aspects of your marriage.  It includes what God wants you to know, what you want to know about your husband, and many other things that are important.  As I have begun to study  2 Peter 1:2-7, I have not only realized that one value builds upon another, but that they all lead to love.  Love doesn't come first.

If you are going to have the marriage you want, you need to first look at what God's direction is for you.  The first is faith, then virtue and today we are studying on knowledge.  Each level that builds on itself contains a vast amount of wisdom but we must take the time to investigate and experience each level.  This is not just "today's challenge" but a "daily challenge".

When you begin to learn about the climbing of this mountain and what it is made of, you realize that you are beginning  the climb on faith.  To climb to the next level you must surely have a good footing on faith.  Make sure you have a good footing as you move to the next level or you will surely fall.  A bad fall can result in serious wounds that may take a long time to heal and seriously delay the journey to the marriage you want.

Heart: As you climb each level, study on what God wants you to learn at each one.  You can't take short cuts, you have to follow your map (your Bible) and you have to keep looking up.  You need to move at God's pace and follow his direction.  As you get closer to the top, the more glory you will see that God deserves and  you will see more spiritual fruit in your marriage.

As you climb your mountain and learn, you will not only be working but you will be transforming.  You can't hide on your mountain, your weaknesses and strengths will be exposed.  Your climb should be submissive to God and humble with the purpose of honoring God.
How blessed is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding. – Proverbs 3:13
Hands:  Try to do something to help you get to know your spouse a little better today.  For example, prepare a special dinner for you and your husband, let the kids eat early.  Take the time to get to know your spouse, ask him about his day.  Also, take time today to read God's word and pray for your own understanding.
