I've been online looking for quilt ideas. Look at the goodies I have found. If these don't make you want to jump up and start cutting fabric pieces to sew back together...then I don't know what will.
Moda Bake Shop featured this quilt in April of 2009 and there is a printable version of the instructions. It looks like a quilt that would be perfect for a beginner and I can only imagine how different fabrics would look.
This quilt is beautiful. It looks like it may be a little more difficult than the one above. What I like about this quilt is that I can incorporate a fabric with a slightly larger print. This quilt and the instructions for making it are also at Moda Bake Shop.
I saw this beautiful quilt over at Sew Mama Sew. It is a different technique than any I have seen. The technique is a little like an applique. I'm thinking this technique would give a beautiful texture to a quilt and can be completed with scrap pieces of fabric...since it's called a scrap buster and all.
I LOVE this quilt as well. I love that larger pieces are used in the blocks so that I can use a larger print fabric if necessary. You can find this quilt tutorial over at Comfort Stitching along with SO much more.
I love this quilt too. I feel like I've said that already. Red Pepper Quilts has a whole tutorial on making this quilt using scrap pieces of fabric. I love the look of tiny squares.
I just had to through this one in. We have a new puppy and he likes it inside...I'm thinking he may need a beautiful bed like this. The instructions for this I found at Better Home and Gardens. Hiccup will look so cute sitting up on a bed this pretty don't you think?
Okay let's get back to the quilts and try to ignore the superior cuteness above.
Make & Takes shares how to choose fabrics for a quilt along she started in September 2010. These tips and hints are very useful when choosing fabrics for a quilt. I am definitely booking marking this page for many future uses, I hope. Here is also a link to the tools I'll be needing...I think I'm good as far as tools go.
She also shows the best way to wash your fabrics before sewing and this is good information to know too.
Now we can use these tips by Come and See the Seitz to design the quilt of our dreams. I mean, if you're going to go to the trouble to sew a quilt, you'll need to be sure you love it first.
I have quilting on the brain, too. :) Thanks so much for the links! I wanted to learn the digital quilt mock-up thing, but I'm not as familiar with my software as I should be. Thanks for sharing some quilt designs that have now gone onto my own "must try" list!
