Many of my readers know that I have a degree in Early Childhood Education and that I am currently working on my masters degree in Reading with an emphasis on Early Literacy.  During my first semester of college this past fall, I developed the above blog On The Lap.
On the Lap is dedicated to helping parents, help increase their childs exposure to literacy at an early age.  Visit and join this blog community, with 8 active contributors ranging from SAHM's to specialists in the field of reading including myself, you are sure to find a topic of interest.  This is a growing community of parents, grandparents and educators...join us for some exciting adventures ahead with us that will help you grow your child's early literacy skills.

P.S. Look for the facebook "Like" button and get updates of new posts on your facebook page.

  1. We are currently reading Richard Scarry's Giant Story Book Treasury. I was lucky and found this huge book of stories for practically nothing at TJ Maxx. Catherine laughs herself silly when I do different voices or shout "watch out!" during her favorite story.

  2. Thank you so much for this site! I just read the read aloud handbook and I am so understanding how vital it is for all of the family to read to my children. We are on a GREAT path and my oldest daughter is soaking it up like crazy. I love it.

Do you have suggestions for alternative princess/fairytale/disney related books? I have a princess and need some other books that she will like... you know to expand her to not just the disney princess themes! Thanks so much!

Show the love. Major love!
