Watch how the stuff changes in the pictures as we play with it!
Today, the kids and I wanted to make slime. NOT oobleck but slime. I wasn't happy that the oobleck seperated. After a day of sitting in a container it became water and cornstarch and impossible to stir. So, I wanted to make slime. Something slimey.

The recipe is easy and I already had all of the ingrediants and then I did something different and made it totally cool. _____________________________________ You need: Borax White Glue Water Food Coloring Cornstarch ______________________________________ Safety:Not to be fed to your pet or baby brother. Not good for leaving in carpets or on furniture overnight. To keep almost indefinitely, leave in ziploc bag in refrigerator when not sliming! Not a bad idea to wash hands before (so it doesn't grow mold) and after (so mom will let you eat dinner) playing with it.

Directions: 1. Borax is available in the laundry section of your local grocery store. Take a cup of water and add to it 1 Tbs. of borax (approx 4% solution). Stir until completely dissolved.2. Make a 50% water 50% white glue solution. Take 1/4 cup of each and mix thoroughly.3. In a ziploc bag, add equal parts of the borax solution to equal parts of the glue solution. 1/2 cup of each will make a cup of slime.4. Add a couple drops of food coloring.5. Seal bag and knead the mixture. 6. After it is super slimey and mixed well, add equal parts of cornstarch and knead again. This will keep it from being sticky, have the same properties as oobleck but feel slimey still and not seperate.

Keep in a sealed container for TONS of slimey fun! It's a little like playdoh too! It's Awesome!

Honest! The cornstarch wasn't in the orignal recipe. I don't know if there is one like this but it is the best! I used containers from the 25 cent machine. (The toys are in there treasure rocks). Coopers friends are all getting this stuff for Christmas!

P.S. Please don't leave the "treasure rocks" out. They do look like some kind of homemade Christmas cookie or something and Grandpa's don't like eating those by accident! YUCK!

  1. Made your slime recipe via this page today. I would like to use it in our homeschool coop class tomorrow and I see on the tutorial download (which I want to print and send home with the kids so they can make it again at home if they would like) the Borax measurment is different. I made with TBS borax dissolved in the solution, but the 4% of 1 tsp in a cup of water makes more sense for a more liquid slime. Just wondering which solution you did.

Show the love. Major love!
